First we ordered jibarito.
Rincon Criollo is la casa del jibarito, after all. Says so right on the front window! It’s a sandwich with meat, cheese, tomato,
lettuce, and mayo between two pieces of plantains instead of bread.
Next we had mofongo (mashed fried plantains) with shrimp and
garlic sauce.
We also ordered a giant combination plate. Our eyes were too big for our stomachs… We’ll
take this guy home for later.
If we can get our acts together, we will try to recreate these
dishes at home next time… If not, we’ll just have to make another trip to the west
side to get our fill of these Puerto Rican inspired dishes.
